چکیده

Perennial broadleaves such as dandelion (Taraxacum officinale G.H. Weber ex Wiggers) and white clover (Trifolium repens L.) are known to be pervasive weeds in stands of maintained turfgrasses. The use synthetic herbicides is the most common effective method control for these weeds. As pesticide European countries, Canada, United States becoming more scrutinized, identification alternative weed options may necessary. However, few organic or natural products exist. A field study was conducted evaluate efficacy various fertilizers bio-herbicides including chelated iron, ammonium nanonate, citrus oil, acetic acid, sodium chloride on compared that two containing 2,4-dichlorophenoxy-acetic acid (2,4-D), mecoprop-p (MCPP), dicamba. Injury perennial ryegrass (Lolium perenne also evaluated with objective determining which effectively suppressed populations while imposing minimal injury desirable Chelated iron controlling equal both turfgrass. Other bio-herbicide treatments provided some but generally were too injurious Fertility oil did not reduce either weed. This research indicates currently market serve alternatives herbicides. information will beneficial homeowners turfgrass managers geographic areas restricted where desired.

Dandelion (Taraxacum officinale and T mongolicum)

Common Names The English name dandelion is a corruption of the French dent de leon, meaning “lion’s tooth.” The herb is similarly named in many Indo-European tongues, also being called “lion’s tooth” in German (Löwenzahn) and Spanish (diente de leon). The name refers to the toothed margins of the leaves. In both modern French and English, the name for dandelion reflects its diuretic nature—bein...

Physiological and Morphological Responses of White Clover (Trifolium repens) and Red Clover (Trifolium pratense) Plants to Salinity Stress

Trifolium spp. are native plants in Iran exhibiting good ground cover po-tential. Salinity is a major environmental stress and today, 20% of the world cultivated areas and nearly half of all irrigated lands are affected by salinity. The main aim of this research was to study morphological and physiological adaptations of these native species under different salinity levels for urban landscape u...

Recurrent gene deletions and the evolution of adaptive cyanogenesis polymorphisms in white clover (Trifolium repens L.).

Understanding the molecular evolution of genes that underlie intraspecific polymorphisms can provide insights into the process of adaptive evolution. For adaptive polymorphisms characterized by gene presence/absence (P/A) variation, underlying loci commonly show signatures of long-term balancing selection, with gene-presence and gene-absence alleles maintained as two divergent lineages. We exam...

Molecular evolution of the Li/li chemical defence polymorphism in white clover (Trifolium repens L.).

White clover (Trifolium repens) is naturally polymorphic for cyanogenesis (hydrogen cyanide release following tissue damage). The ecological factors favouring cyanogenic and acyanogenic plants have been examined in numerous studies over the last half century, making this one of the best-documented examples of an adaptive polymorphism in plants. White clover cyanogenesis is controlled by two, in...
